Are National Trust properties open?

Written by Administrator

National Trust sites are among Britain’s top visitor attractions, and boast some of the most beautiful properties, gardens, walks and beauty spots in the country. As much of life is currently being lived outside due to coronavirus, National Trust sites are the perfect place to meet with friends and family again now that rules on socialising have been relaxed.

Are National Trust properties open?

Currently, gardens and parks are all open across the UK.

Cafes and visitor centres are also open, but only for outdoor service, in line with current restrictions.

However, National Trust properties are not open for visitors

It is expected houses will remain closed in England until May 17 at least.

A National Trust statement says: “In England, many of our gardens, parks and outdoor spaces are open to visit.

“The safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors remains our number one priority and we continue to follow government guidelines.

“From 12 April, we’re reopening shops in England and outdoor seating alongside some cafés.

The National Trust website reads: “Our gardens, parks and countryside locations are open.

“Some places may be busy, so we strongly advise booking in advance.

“Tickets are released every Friday for the following week.

“We’ve reopened our shops in England, and outdoor seating is now available at some cafés.

“In Wales we’re now able to welcome back visitors to our outdoor places, and have reopened some of our shops.

“Our cafés in Wales continue to offer a takeaway service.

“The safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors from the nearby community remains our priority.

“Please check the property webpage before you travel and follow government guidance when you visit.”

The Government still advises to stay local, and not to travel great distances for unnecessary reasons.

In England, groups of up to six, or two households of any size, can currently meet to socialise in an outdoor setting.
