The Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War multiplayer beta is coming to PlayStation 4 later this week.
As part of Activision’s exclusivity deal with Sony, the Cold War beta will appear first on PS4.
The beta has an October 8 release date for pre-order customers, followed by an October 10 release date for all PS4 users.
This will be followed by an even bigger multiplayer beta on PS4, Xbox One and PC beginning on October 15.
Needless to say, a demo this big is going to take up a sizeable chunk of your hard drive, so it’s worth downloading early.
If you don’t want to miss a second of the action, the Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War beta can be pre-loaded right now on PS4.
You can download the Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War beta from PSN through this link.
The Cold War beta pre-load weighs in at around 30GB, so it should be ready in plenty of time.
The news was announced by Call of Duty publisher Activision on Twitter: “3 days until early access to the #BlackOpsColdWar Beta kicks off on PS4. Pre-load starts tomorrow.”
“Be among the first to get hands-on with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War maps and modes in the Open Beta,” reads the official description.
“Experience thrilling Multiplayer action from quintessential 6v6 Black Ops combat across new and returning modes, 12v12 Combined Arms and the all new 40 player Fireteam Dirty Bomb mode.
“Use Field Upgrades and unleash Scorestreaks on enemies, perfect your loadout in the Gunsmith and more.
“The Beta is a taste of what’s to come with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War when it launches on November 13th.”
Speaking of Black Ops Cold War, the upcoming Call of Duty game will launch alongside an exclusive PlayStation 4 controller in November.
Created by Nacon, the Call of Duty-themed REVOLUTION Unlimited boasts a design that’s similar to the Xbox One pad.
It also features additional weights to make the controller feel a little heavier in the hand, as well as adjustable thumbsticks depending on your preference.
The controller also features a series of buttons on the underside of the pad, which can be programmed with different inputs for a little extra speed.
It even comes with a code for exclusive in-game content, although what exactly this is remains a mystery.
