Food recall UK: Greggs and Iceland recall vegetable bakes as they could contain glass

Written by Administrator

Greggs has issued a warning for the products which are stocked in Iceland stores. Items sold in Greggs bakeries are not affected by the update.

The Food Standards Agency website states: “Greggs is extending its recall of Vegetable Bakes (two pack) to include additional best before dates because the product may contain small pieces of green glass.

“The possible presence of glass makes this product unsafe to eat.

“This product is exclusively sold in Iceland Stores and does not affect the products sold in Greggs.”

The packs recalled are 310 grams and have the following best before dates.

Customers should look for best before: September 26, 2021, September 12, 2021, September 11, 2021, August 28, 2021, August 15, 2021, July 31, 2021, July 25, 2021, July 5, 2021, July 4, 2021, June 27, 2021 and June 19, 2021.

Point of sale notices have been issued to stores which offer more information on the recall and what customers should do.

Anyone who has purchased the batches are urged not to eat them.

Food recall warnings are not often issued but should be taken seriously.

They can be put out when a fault is spotted with a product.

Items can be “recalled” or “withdrawn” in these cases.

Products that are “withdrawn” are removed from shelves.
