Jet2 flights and holidays to Spain and Portugal cancelled as FCO warns against travel | Travel News | Travel

Jet2 flights and holidays to Spain and Portugal have been cancelled until next year. The tour operator has been repeatedly forced to push the restart date further back as both countries show no sign of being added back onto the travel corridor list. The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Ofice (FCDO) states that everyone travelling back to the UK from Spanish and Portuguese shores must quarantine for 14 days.

Jet2 shared the announcement on Twitter yesterday.

“Due to the ongoing uncertainty caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the latest government travel advice, we have taken the decision to extend the suspension of flights and holidays to Malaga, Alicante and Faro (The Algarve) Flights and holidays to Malaga and Alicante are suspended up to and including February 10, 2021,” explained Jet2’s notice.

“Flights and holidays to Faro (The Algarve) are suspended from November 1 up to and including February 10, 2021, and we are continuing to operate a revised flying programme for flight-only customers up to and including October 31.

“For customers due to travel up to and including October 31 and who no longer wish to do so, we are offering them the option to rebook with no admin fee.”

DON’T MISS

Jet2 continued: “Where customers are affected by any programme changes as a result of suspended flights or holidays, we have been repeatedly recognised for how we have been looking after them and we will be automatically cancelling affected bookings with a full refund.

“We know how much customers want to get away for their much-needed holidays, so we are offering £100 off the next holiday booking for package holiday customers who wish to rebook for departures up to and including March 31, 2021.

“We would like to remind affected customers that they do not need to contact us, as we will be in touch.

“We would also like to thank customers for their continued patience and understanding.”

The news comes as Jet2 revealed it would be increasing flights to Greek island Rhodes as well as Portuguese island Madeira.

Madeira remains on the travel corridor list despite mainland Portugal’s absence.

Meanwhile, Greece travel rules were relaxed last week.

Lesvos, Santorini, Serifos, Tinos or Zakynthos were all added back onto the ‘safe’ list, so now anyone who travels to mainland Greece and its islands (with the exception of Crete and Mykonos) does not need to quarantine upon return to the UK.

These are the latest Jet2 additions:

Rhodes – ten additional services in total, thanks to extra Saturday services departing on November 7-14 from Birmingham, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle and London Stansted.

Madeira (Funchal) – eight additional flights, including extra Saturday services on October 24, October 31, November 7 and November 14 from Leeds Bradford, as well as additional Sunday services on October 25, November 1, November 8 and November 15 from Manchester.
