Kate Middleton news: Body language with Prince William shows she ditched ‘royal wife’ role

With an increasingly important royal role, body language expert Judi James claimed she is comfortable with her regal duties.

She told Express.co.uk: “Kate can do the regal look with ease, sporting a mean tiara and looking born to wear the kind of formal styling [of royals].”

Even when making virtual appearances this year, Judi suggested she has shown she would be well suited for her growing role.

The expert continued: “Kate gesticulates with both hands and uses small body-movements to add energy and force to her words.

“She also uses an upward finger-pinch gesture that usually suggests precise thinking and impassioned, persuasive thinking.

“We haven’t seen Kate in the role of campaigner yet as it is one that her husband and her brother-in-law tend to hold close to their chests but there are clues from her body language here that it is one she could comfortably move into and even take forward into her future role as Queen.”

While the royal is comfortable in a regal setting, Judi explained she has become more “relaxed” during appearances.

The expert added: “Kate’s body language has become so much more relaxed recently.

“She appears much less wary about being the centre of attention when she’s out with her husband.”

During the recent coronavirus lockdown, Kate has spoken with people across the UK for various engagements.

Judi claimed the royal is happy to “move out” of her royal role and show herself as an individual during such appearances.

“Kate seems to have moved out of the ‘royal wife’ role and looked happier appearing as an individual appearing as herself,” the expert stated.

“[Before lockdown] Kate was always the first to bend down as she chats to children in the crowds and to pull on her favourite boots and jeans to compete with her husband in any sporting events they were asked to take part in on visits.”

During recent video calls by Duke and Duchess, the expert claimed Kate will often take the lead in discussions.

Judi said: “Kate can often appear to lead when she is with her husband.

“He can be the one adding the jokes and the humour in between the more serious signals of concern, while Kate responds with supportive smiles and laughter.”
