Jurgen Klopp has urged Liverpool supporters to keep an eye on the club’s channels today, hinting that an announcement confirming the signing of Thiago Alcantara is imminent. The Reds agreed a deal with Bayern Munich yesterday for an initial £20million paid across his four-year contract with an additional £5m in add-ons. It’s understood that Thiago flew into Manchester this morning from Munich to put the finishing touches on his move to Anfield.
There were no surprises when Klopp faces immediate questioning on the club’s deal for Thiago as he addressed the media ahead of the trip to Chelsea.
He claims he cannot confirm the deal but appeared to hint it was as good as done. He said: “There’s nothing really to say. It’s not official until it’s announced and I’m not an announcer. It looks quite promising! My hands are tied pretty much. It might be useful for fans to look at LFC channels over today.”
Klopp then appreciated another attempt at a Thiago question. He laughed before responding: “All these things [about Thiago], I can answer after it is announced or not. Hypothetical ways…we have to wait a bit. We are all used to it. Nothing to say. Press conference for Chelsea game, I respect questions on that.”
The German has been tight-lipped on Liverpool’s transfer plans throughout the entirety of the window but now he is set to land a marquee addition in the Spanish international.
