Next James Bond: Tom Hardy in three-horse race as Regé-Jean Page gains ground | Films | Entertainment

By the end of the year, James Bond fans would have seen Daniel Craig play 007 for the final time in No Time To Die. The actor has appeared as the iconic British spy in five films over the last 15 years. Although this may be a sad time for the series, excitement is on the horizon as a brand new star is due to take on the hero in future films. All eyes have been on Tom Hardy taking the position for the past year, but things could be about to change.

Hardy’s lead in the Bond odds came after a report claimed he had already been cast as the spy behind the scenes.

This left the British actor as the frontrunner in the betting odds – until Bridgerton was released.

Netflix‘s period drama show introduced the masses to British-Zimbabwean actor Regé-Jean Page, who stunned fans with his good looks and suave acting.

He quickly became a hot favourite with viewers, briefly knocking Hardy off the top spot.

Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati commented on the latest odds: “It’s back into a three-horse race to replace Daniel Craig and with interest in Luke Evans on the drift, attention turns back to Regé-Jean Page, Tom Hardy and James Norton.”

Superman and The Witcher star Henry Cavill also has a strong shot of getting the role.

The gamer has 10/1 on the role, after playing the sophisticated Napoleon Solo in 2015 hit movie The Man From UNCLE.

He is followed swiftly by Luther star and fan-favourite Idris Elba.

Elba has been quiet for some time but has maintained his position in the odds for Bond.

The Marvel and Pacific Rim actor currently has a powerful 12/1 on becoming 007 after Craig.

However, things could change in an even more drastic fashion, as further odds from Ladbrokes suggest a woman could take over as Jane Bond.

Currently, the bookie firm has 12/1 on Craig being replaced by a woman, with Jodie Comer and Emily Blunt the most likely with 66/1 each.

James Bond No Time To Die is due out on September 30, 2021.
