Cruise holidays have been placed on hold for the majority of the world this year amid the coronavirus pandemic. However, as vaccine announcements offer new hope for tackling the virus, many eager holidaymakers may be casting their attention to booking a cruise in the future.
While those on a budget might think opting for one of the cheaper cruises may be in their best interest, a Royal Caribbean expert has said this is not necessarily the case.
In fact, according to the major cruise line, being led by price could be a “big mistake”.
As part of a new blog post outlining the “top 10 things you should never do on a cruise”, an expert explained why the cost of your cruise might not be the be-all and end-all.
In a video, Royal Caribbean explains: “We all have vacation budgets but picking a cruise to go on based purely on the price is a big mistake.
The Wonder of the Seas, for example, is home to the tallest waterslide at sea, perfect for thrill-seekers.
Meanwhile, the Odyssey of the Seas promises a culinary offering spanning all corners of the globe.
“Before you book, be sure to look at what the ship offers to do onboard as well as what it does not offer, and then decide if it is a good choice for you,” explained the cruise line.
“But looking just at price and then picking a ship from there is setting yourself up for a major disappointment later when you get on that ship.”
The good news is, for holidaymakers who are looking to book cruises in the future, Black Friday is right around the corner.
The annual sale usually sees all manner of travel and holiday providers joining in to brighten up the winter months with some impressive savings.
Though Royal Caribbean has yet to announce whether it will be partaking in this year’s Black Friday sale event, last year the cruise line offered deals on Friday and the following Monday – known as Cyber Monday.
The Cyber weekend sale offered 60 percent discounts off a second guest as well as free travel for kids.
There were also savings of up to $300 (£227.45 ) off each purchase.
In addition, the cruise line also offered money off pre-purchase items.
This includes 50 percent off beverage packages, 65 percent off internet, up to 30 percent ff shore excursions and up to 55 percent off specialty dining packages.
Holidaymakers will have to keep their eyes peeled to see if Royal Caribbean launches a similar sale for 2020.
