WARNING: This article contains potential spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The third Marvel-led Spider-Man film, No Way Home, is due out later this year and will continue the story of Peter Parker after the events of Far From Home. Rumours have suggested the film will include past Spider-Man stars Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their own versions of the wall-crawler and this week on the Marvel Studios Spoilers Reddit a user, who claimed to have worked on the film, detailed huge parts of the plot.
The user, SpideyForever245, previously revealed the cameo appearance of Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Disney Plus show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, so Reddit users have given the leaker some credibility.
With that said, it is important to note all of SpideyForever245’s information should be taken with a grain of salt, as nothing is confirmed just yet.
However, the information they provide does seem convincing. They revealed No Way Home begins with a time skip, showing Peter Parker (Tom Holland) in court defending himself against claims he murdered Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal).
They also added this court scene would involve Matt Murdock / Daredevil, played by Netflix and Marvel star Charlie Cox.
The leaker then said Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) will be busy capturing villains who escaped from other universes, prompting Spider-Man’s involvement.
They wrote: “The villains somehow escaped because Peter did something, tried to mess with some magic to clear his name, now is up to him to get them back into the prison.” (sic)
First and foremost is his mother figure and aunt, May (Marisa Tomei).
The Marvel comic books have previously explored storylines wherein Aunt May is killed off and the devastating event has become one of the staple moments in any Peter Parker mythos.
Next up is MJ (Zendaya), who has also been killed off multiple times in the character’s history.
Far From Home involved Peter and MJ getting together romantically for the first time, so to have her snatched away would be devastating.
Finally, there is Ned (Jacob Batalon), Peter’s best friend.
Ned’s comic book history is not as robust as Aunt May’s or MJ’s, but his death would certainly make quite the mark on Peter’s life in the MCU, as he was the first person to know about his secret identity.
Either way, any of these character deaths would create a sorrowful moment for Holland’s version of the character, potentially replacing the emotion missed when Marvel did not include Uncle Ben’s death in the series.
Until the first trailer comes out, fans will not know if any of this information from SpideyForever245 is true or not, but it is certainly an interesting read.
Spider-Man No Way Home is due out December 17, 2021.
