Tesco deals help many Britons across the UK save money.
However, knowing when deals start and end could save you even more.
Now one of these mysteries has been solved by two savvy shoppers.
A code on the label of Tesco’s discounted products actually reveals when the discount will end.
Bloggers Ricky and Naomi Wills, who focus on savvy money saving tricks, revealed the key to the code. They run the Skint Chef and Skint Dad blogs with the aim of helping consumers save cash.
Yellow labels are placed on discount products in Tesco stores.
A six digit code on this label is the secret to knowing when the offer ends.
This could enable shoppers to stock up on their favourite discounted products and ultimately save money.
The code of the yellow labels is a backwards date.
The first two digits are the year, the next the month and the last the day.
Naomi wrote: “When I’m in the supermarket, I check prices like a hawk. And something is glaring on the price label on the Tesco shelf that will seem obvious when you see it.
“You can use this to determine if you need to buy your favourite groceries sharpish and potentially bulk, or if you’ve got more time to buy the food over a longer time, saving you potentially wasting food.”
A code such as 190609 would mean that the offer would end of the 9th of June 2019.
Naomi claims the code also works at ASDA.
Another money saving trick includes this way to get cheap broadband.
Speaking with This Morning presenters Eammon and Ruth Holmes, he explained: “If you’ve had broadband for over a year with the same provider, you’re likely massively overpaying. “Broadband is a forgotten bill, the cost drips out of your account.
“Yet it’s worth thinking about how much you spend a year on it.
“Remember in truth you’re almost always locked in to having a landline with it as well so you need to add the two costs together and they’re frightening.
“Here’s the main out of contract standard costs with the big firms.”
