Tottenham star Harry Kane ‘open to Manchester United transfer and giving them signals’ | Football | Sport

Tottenham star Harry Kane is reportedly open to joining Manchester United. The England international has been in fine goalscoring form this season but, once again, will end the campaign with no trophies to show for his efforts. And a blockbuster move to Old Trafford could be on the cards when the transfer window reopens.

Tottenham have endured a difficult campaign, recently sacking Jose Mourinho as a result.

But that hasn’t stopped Kane from taking the top flight by storm, with the striker scoring 21 goals and registering 13 assists from 30 Premier League matches.

With Tottenham poised to finish the season without a trophy, Kane leaving looks increasingly likely.

And United have been strongly linked, especially at a time where Edinson Cavani is widely expected to jump ship for Boca Juniors.

Now, Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet have claimed Kane is open to a move to United.

And, what’s more, the Red Devils think a deal is possible because the player himself has supposedly been giving them signals.

“It is bittersweet. I would rather be winning team trophies and this award. It is what it is.

“For sure, if I finish my career as Premier League top goalscorer and, hopefully, England top goalscorer, that’d be incredible.

“But it wouldn’t feel as good if I didn’t have a lot of team trophies to go with that.

“If I didn’t have the Premier League or a European Championships to go with that.”

Kane also revealed in March that he wouldn’t stay at Tottenham ‘for the sake of it’, saying: “I love Spurs, I’ll always love Spurs.

“But I’ve always said, if I don’t feel we’re going in the right direction then I’m not someone who will just stay for the sake of it.

“I’m an ambitious player, I want to become one of the best players.”

United’s attack would be drastically improved if they were to bring Kane to Old Trafford.

But signing him won’t be easy, with Daniel Levy likely to make negotiations with the Red Devils as difficult as possible.

Levy was furious when United signed Dimitar Berbatov back in 2008, having previously agreed to sell the Bulgarian to Manchester City.

And he’s refused to let the likes of Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld move to the Theatre of Dreams in the time since.

Former United star Luke Chadwick thinks now is the time for Kane to leave.

“I think if Kane is ever going to leave Tottenham, it’ll be this summer, with the whole merry-go-round of managers in there, no one really knows who’s coming in next,” Chadwick said.

“It looks like they’re going to struggle to get into the Champions League next season so they won’t be playing in the biggest club competition in Europe, they’ve just lost the Carabao Cup final to Man City. I think now is the time.

“You look at the three players in world football who guarantee you goals, Kane, Mbappe or Haaland, if you get any of those three, if any of them end up at United, Man City or Liverpool you’d fancy them to win the league next season.

“Kane has done it week, in week out in the Premier League for years now and if United can get him they should do everything in their power to do so.”
