But what is your local area for exercise?
A South Lakes MP has written to the Prime Minister asking for a ‘clear definition’ of what a ‘local area’ means when it comes to exercising during lockdown.
Currently, the guidance does not explain what your local area for exercise is.
During the daily news conference on Tuesday, the chair of the National Police Chief’s Council Martin Hewitt discussed the conversation about the definition of local.
He said there might be a problem with specifying what distance from home is allowed, questioning how police officers would know how far people have travelled.
During the first lockdown, a time limit of one hour for exercise was implemented but as restrictions eased the time limit was removed.
Speaking about exercise during the first lockdown in March 2020, Cabinet minister Michael Gove told the Andrew Marr show: “Obviously it depends on each individual’s fitness.
“But I would have thought that for most a walk of up to an hour, or a run of 30 minutes, or a cycle ride between that, depending on their level of fitness, is appropriate.”
